As you know, the world community is faced with the problem of integration and clash of civilizations. Having considered the current problems of the modern world, the Faculty of International Relations of TNU organized the Department of European Studies. The Department of European Studies functions in the field of study and teaching of European culture, history, customs, politics, and languages.
After gaining state independence, the Republic of Tajikistan proclaimed the “Open Door” foreign policy. From this point of view, teaching and learning foreign languages have received a new and important level in the country. The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon pays special attention to the study of foreign languages, especially Russian and English, and emphasizes that at least the younger generation should speak the above-mentioned languages.
The Department of European Studies employs qualified and experienced teachers who teach English, French, German, European history and culture, diplomatic correspondence in English, the theory and practice of diplomatic translation, EU public policy, etc. Candidate of Philological Science, Associate Professor Najmiddinov A.F. (head of the department), senior teachers Abdulkhaeva M.Kh., Murodov F., Ashurmamedova U., Nazarova M.O., Nurzoda M., and assistant Giyoev F. and department secretary Nurova L. are currently working at the department.
The department trains specialists in the field of international relations, guides and translators. In addition, the department also employs masters and researchers.
Teachers conduct their scientific research on topics related to the scientific topics of the department, based on issues of international relations. The department has a “European Center” in its bases, where students can study using video and audio teaching methods. The Department of European Studies also has a student club called “Friendship”. As per the plan, this happens twice a month where students can improve their practical and verbal skills. The head of this club is Associate Professor A.F. Nadzhmiddinov. and assistant Nurzoda M.
In the field of science, the Department of European Studies is very active and annually organizes national and international conferences. Thanks to the leadership of the Faculty of International Relations and the Department of European Studies, a major in European Studies was organized for master’s degrees, which can serve as evidence of the fruitful cooperation of the Faculty of International Relations with European universities.
Teachers and scientists of the Department of European Studies actively participate in grant projects. It should be noted that two international projects are currently being implemented at the Faculty of International Relations “COMPASS” and “TACES”, sponsored by the EU. Faculty members of the Department of European Studies took part in various seminars, conferences and trainings in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Germany as part of the above-mentioned projects. Teachers and researchers of our department are in close contact with their foreign partners from EU universities, exchange modern teaching methods and discuss current problems of modern sciences.
Plans for the future of the Department of European Studies are very large, and their implementation is very fruitful for the future of Tajik diplomacy.
